Shingle Creek

Swimming Hole

For about 30 or more years there has been a swimming hole in the back of Shingle Creek here in the Oaks. Unnoticed the swimming hole went until recently.....

Residents called the Oaks Neighborhood Watch about the terrible speeders going in and out of the Shingle Creek area of the Oaks, thinking that the new area was a new way to go as a by pass from the Oaks Blvd, the Oaks Watch thought that the cars were just going that way instead of going down the Oaks Blvd.

The Complaints were coming in and the Oaks Watch kept telling the residents to call K.P.D.(Kissimmee Police Department)

New section built in Shingle Creek with a boat ramp

The area in the S.C. area had boat docks behind their homes where they can take their boat to the lake behind the Oaks or just go to the Boat Ramp and let the boat go into the water through the boat lift at that spot. The residents that wanted to use the boat dock paid a little over $200.00 to use the Boat Dock.

Then residents with the boats were complaining that they could not get to the boat ramp because it was packed with unwanted vehicles that were not using it for a boat ramp. What were they doing?

Also there were other vehicles that were parked across the other side of the bridge on the builders lot. what were all these cars and trucks doing here.

We were told one holiday weekend that they were having a Bar-b-q- grill in the boat ramp parking lot, so Bill fow and Joe went there only to miss the Bar-B-Q, and only saw trash spewed all over the parking lot.

The truth finally came out. People were coming into the Oaks to go into the Shingle Creek area to go swimming in the "Rope area" Parking there vehicles and walking to the place that has been there for years.

Now we put two and two together and found out what was going on all this time.

We called the K.P.D. a few times and finally they said there was nothing that they can do. because it was on private property, and we would have to get someone on our end to get signs up and send a letter to K.P.D. to keep these people out.

So that's what we did.

We contacted our management company and they told us they could do nothing because the C.D.D. has taken over that part of our neighborhood. another words the edges of our neighborhood, and area's like the Boat Dock.

So Joe called the C.D.D. and asked them to do this because it is their responsibility.

They did get with their lawyers and put together a sign that would be worded properly and also sent a letter to the KPD so that they would be able to do something about the parked vehicles.

Last seen only two cars were parked there and 12 vehicles were parked on the empty lot.

C.D.D. Also put a trash can on the Boat Launch.

But they still are going swimming. Even having anything from a lawn mower to an alterain vehicle bringing them back and forth from their vehicles to the swimming hole.

In the past month (of July 2011)  There have been two thefts, A 5 car pile up because of speeding, and a resident reported to us that their Mother was visiting and she told her daughter to look over at the parking of the Boat launch, and Low and behold there were people standing there completely nude...yes N.U.D.E.! They were changing into their cloths.

Now we do not live in a nude trailer park! these folks are coming here and doing this in a respectable neighborhood!

So this entire swimming hole is nothing but a huge problem.

Residence emailed Joe and asked to get a petition, and he emailed them back to contact the commissioners of the City, because he contacted commissioner Jerry Gemski.

Jerry said that he will be at the next Oaks Watch meeting that will be held on September 7th. He also is going to meet with Joe to go over the area of the swimming hole." If it is on City Property, we can close it down." said Jerry.

We also went to Park Square homes and  Standard Pacific Homes and they are on Board to help find a resolve to the problem. One of the proposals that the Oaks Watch made was to have a sticker made for the residents who pay for the Member Agreement for the operation and use of the Boat Dock, this will help in finding out who belongs at the Boat Dock and who does not. This is the only way this could happen, Besides getting closed by the City altogether. Bill Fow needs help in knowing who is from our neighborhood and who is not. right now he can not tell, neither can the police, until they come back to their vehicles.

We need the residents of Shingle Creek of the Oaks to get together, that is why we have moved our September meeting to the Shingle Creek area on September 7th. It will be at the;

and we need residents to come, The Boat Dock will be one of the issues that will be discussed.

Please contact Joe at joe@theoakswatch.com for more information.
