Kissimmee Police Remind Citizens to “Lock, Keep and Take”
Kissimmee, Fla. (September 15, 2011)
– Kissimmee police detectives are reminding citizens to lock their cars,
keep their keys and take their belongings with them when exiting their
vehicles.
During the month of August, the Kissimmee Police Department received 104
reports of vehicle burglaries, an increase of nearly 27% from July 2011.
Of the 104 burglaries, 58% were committed on unsecured vehicles.
Kissimmee Police Detectives are reminding citizens not to leave anything
of value in plain view in a vehicle. All items should be secured
out of sight or taken out of the vehicle when exiting. Citizens
should lock their vehicles and keep their keys secured where no one can
take them. All identity information should be kept with you at all
times and not left in your vehicle.
“The Kissimmee Police Department has implemented the Lock, Keep, Take
program in 2009, which includes signs and stickers at businesses and
parking lots throughout the City,” said Chief Iwanski, “Our goal is to
continue to remind citizens and visitors to protect their property and
to reduce the chance of becoming a victim of crime.”
